Despite the spontaneous air, the work is never chaotic, Gerard’s compositions are impeccable. They are about real things, the underside of the seeable world, the side that determines people’s lives, the unobservable one that lies beneath external reality.

Jonas Visits Malta!

Jonas was invited to be the honorary guest at the 2nd Annual Art Week on the Island of Malta by art teacher Frankie Azzopardi and the Art Education officer Ms. Siina Micallef. They played Jonas' video on wide screens in classrooms and had a powerful response from the students and staff. During the visit, assisted by his partner Cynthia McCarty, he hosted several painting performances at the school and at the Art Academy Gallery in Mosta and was also interviewed for the local TV program called the Meander. In addition, he offered a series of Freedom of Expression workshops for the students at the Boys' Secondary School at St. Ignatius College.

These performances are an invitation to the general public to witness and experience a very personal moment as the creative process is expressed through an artist without any specific result in mind, without a plan, without any need to make a statement, and allowing intuitive and spontaneous energy to flow fearlessly without any judgment. This jump into uncertainty is what motivated the teachers in Malta to invite Jonas to share this unique and eye-opening experience with their students.
