In honor of the 1 year anniversary of Hurricane Helene flood, Jonas Gerard Fine Art is pleased to announce its second Online Auction this fall. Jonas Gerard’s voluminous personal and professional archives are in the process of being digitized and archived, and we are thrilled to share more special items from this collection. Discover original and unique items including rare ink drawings, work on paper studies, sculptures, tiles, artist tools, studio clothing, fun memorabilia, and a dazzling selection of finished flood-restored paintings.

In September 2024, Asheville and its famous River Arts District were devastated in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The vast majority of Jonas Gerard’s remaining inventory of paintings and prints were submerged in the flood waters. Mira Gerard, Jonas’ daughter, was determined to save every single piece of artwork that she could find. Along with the help of her manager and archivist, Colleen Logan, she has been working with the gorgeous collection of over 200 of Jonas Gerard’s remaining works to restore them after being submerged and knocked around in the flood waters from Hurricane Helene. A painter herself, Mira feels a reconnection with her father in each of his paintings which she has slowly and carefully brought back to life.

Your support allows us to continue our recovery efforts and to build Jonas Gerard’s archive and legacy. A portion of the proceeds from this auction and future sales are being set aside to publish a beautiful book about the life and work of Jonas Gerard. The book will have full-color images, complete with narrative passages of Jonas’ life written by me and others who knew and loved him, along with musings and writings of his own, and an illustrated timeline of his artwork dating all the way back to the 1950s. This gorgeous publication will also include images from his everyday life and special milestones from his career.
